We are excited to announce that Birrigan Iluka Beach has taken out the Stormwater NSW Awards for Excellence in the ‘Integrated Stormwater Design’ Category. Congratulations to Burchills Engineering Solutions, who partnered with Stevens Group, the Birrigan Gargle Local Aboriginal Land Council and Ocean Park Consulting to deliver the innovative design.

The design of the stormwater network adopted within the Birrigan Iluka Beach development mimics the natural environment and is sympathetic to stormwater management techniques adopted within the Iluka vicinity and coastal townships. The concept is reliant upon the permeability of the underlying soil column and is simplistic in its design, making the system easy to maintain, aesthetically pleasing, and providing a system which is enduring in nature.

Jono Cuell Burchills Engineering Solutions’ Project Manager and key designer commented the following:

“ I’ve not only enjoyed playing a part in this project, It’s been a privilege to watch our integrated stormwater design at Iluka come to fruition. Birrigan Iluka Beach was only possible because of the visionary approach of Stevens Group. the Birrigan Gargle Local Aboriginal Land Council and Ocean Park Consulting. This type of innovative stormwater project isn’t possible without a great team.”
